Our Wood & Laminate Flooring Installation Services
Preparing the Floors for Installation
Preparing your floors for a new flooring installation is a multi-phase process. We’ll remove old flooring material; we’ll clear away nails, spikes, and tackstrips; we’ll install sound muffling material and a moisture barrier (if applicable); and we’ll ensure that your floor is clean, dry, and level before continuing.
Removing Carpet, Tiles or Linoleum, Carpet Disposal
We don’t install flooring on top of tile or linoleum, and certainly not on top of carpet. We’ll pull out your old flooring to expose the subflooring system in your home or building. We remove all flooring material before an installation, and, of course, we dispose of old flooring material for you.
Tackstrip Removal Which Also Includes the Cleaning of All Spikes and Nails
Tackstrip, spike, and nail removal are essential for properly laying a new floor. We’ll remove all excess material and ensure no obstacles are jutting into your new flooring structure. We strive to ensure that your subfloor is clean, smooth, and level before moving on to the next step.
Put Down Muffler or Moisture Barrier Depending on Subfloor
To reduce noise, including creaking and cracking, we can lay down a muffling material. In some cases, we can also install a moisture barrier. This barrier will keep your subfloor protected from damage that can be caused by pooling water, spills, and moisture in the air.
Check your Subfloor to Make Sure That it is Clean, Dry, and Level
While your subfloor is exposed, it’s the perfect time to perform an inspection. We’ll take a look at the health of the subfloor, look for mold or damage, and fix any issues before moving forward. Your subfloor should be strong and properly prepared to ensure your flooring system will last for decades on end.
Provide Leveling of Floors When Required
If you have an older home, or a home that’s endured foundation shifts, you may have floors that aren’t level. We can correct sloping floors and swales by laying down leveling material to support your new flooring. There are several materials and techniques that can be utilized for leveling; we’ll assess your unique situation and formulate the best plan of action.
